Georgia Cranswick

Physiotherapist

Georgia has extensive experience teaching clinical Pilates and group reformer. Alongside Pilates, Georgia has a keen interest in injury management, rehabilitation, chronic or long-standing pain, as well as both pre and post-natal exercise and mums and bubs classes. Georgia loves babies and working with Mums. Georgia focuses on individual needs when it comes to pain management, as she strives to get her patients back doing what is most meaningful to them. Georgia uses a holistic approach and a range of manual treatment, dry needling, education, at home exercise rehabilitation and supervised exercise. Outside of work you’ll find Georgia either working in her garden, walking her Kelpie puppy, camping in her rooftop tent or at a reformer Pilates class.

My approach to Physiotherapy:

Georgia has a very holistic approach to physiotherapy. She places a great emphasis on understanding your lifestyle, beliefs and values, before suggesting appropriate strategies to help you. Georgia wants you to get the most out of your treatment, and understands that every body is different. Your treatment plan will always be individualised and she will strive to make you feel comfortable and confident in the management of your concerns.

What to expect in your first visit?

Georgia will ask you a series of questions and use a little bit of detective work to try and understand the issues you are presenting with. This will involve asking about your symptoms, past medical history, lifestyle and exercise, to name a few. Georgia will also ask you about your goals and what you want to achieve from your session with her. With this information she will use hands on treatment to reduce pain if it’s appropriate, as well as provide relevant education so that you’re able to understand your own body and concerns better. You will also be sent away with an individualised exercise program for you to work on at home or in a gym if you prefer, in order to regain strength and function, or build on an area of concern.

How to know if i need Physio or Pilates

If you’re struggling with recovering from an injury, or managing persistent pain, a Physio session will provide you with an assessment, treatment and a management plan to help reduce your pain and dysfunction (this might include Pilates as part of your rehabilitation).
On the other hand, if you’re wanting to get into supervised and supportive exercise then Pilates is the way to go. You don’t need any prior reformer Pilates experience to start; by booking in a Pilates assessment, Georgia is able to introduce you to the equipment and exercises in a way that is supportive and appropriate for beginners.

What are your special interests

Georgia has a special interest working alongside expecting mothers, and has been doing so for years. Her preferred treatment style is personalised Pilates treatment plans for Pre/Post Natal exercise.

Pilates for pregnancy/Post Partum

Pilates is a great option for expecting or new mothers. Working against resistance to increase strength and increase mobility prepares you for pregnancy, birth and post-partum. Classes are safe, supportive and personalised so that your needs are always met. There are many ways exercises can be modified in order to make them better suited.

"Can’t recommend Ideal Physiotherapy + Pilates enough. Physiotherapist Georgia has helped me navigate my recovery from an injury and I think may have converted me to reformer pilates. Georgia is relaxed, easy going, up for a laugh and most importantly a very knowledgeable Physiotherapist. Whether you need physiotherapy to recover from an injury or want to try pilates out, I defiantly say give these guys a go."
