Myotherapy
Myotherapy is physical therapy that is applied in the preventative, corrective and rehabilitative phases to treat musculoskeletal pain and disfunction. Trigger points or 'knots' may be enflamed and irritable, restricting range of motion, or causing referred pain elsewhere. Myotherapy can work to release trigger points to aid recovery and decrease muscle soreness. Depending on the patients problem, myotherapists will use a combination of soft tissue manipulation, myofascial release and rehabilitative exercises.
Available treatment options include:
- Dry needling
- Static and dynamic cupping
- Manual therapy and joint mobilisation
- Lymphatic drainage
- Thermal therapies such as hot stone, wheat bag and hot towels
